Gluvna Shimo Hromada

Thomas A. Squires, 89, of Lorain, died Wednesday April 5, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.

He was born January 22, 1928 in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain most of his life.

Thomas served with the US Navy toward the end of World War II aboard the light cruiser ship USS Fargo.

He worked as a crane operator at Fruehauf Trailer and American Ship Building in Lorain and at Pfaudler, Inc in Elyria before retiring.

He was a member of St Peter Parish in Lorain.

He is survived by his daughter Wendy Cambarare (Larry) of LaGrange, granddaughter Lauren Cambarare of Grafton, brother John Squires (Pearl) of Lorain and half-sister Barb Ghaner of Altoona, Pennsylvania.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Mary J. Squires (nee Kovalick) on July 30, 2012, father Harry Squires, mother Lydia Bergey (nee Woods) and brother Clarence “Pete” Squires.

Funeral Schedule

The family will receive friends Saturday April 8, 2017 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.   The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor of St. Peter Parish, will officiate.  Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
