William Jackson “Jack” Rogers, age 83, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of Friday April 14, 2017. Born in Alloy, West Virginia on November 8, 1933, Jack had been a resident of Ohio since the age of 18.

He was employed as a driver for Browning-Ferris Industries; Jack retired from BFI in 1998 following thirty-three years of service with the company. He had also served as shop steward of Teamster’s Local 571 during his employment there. Following his retirement, he assisted his wife in the operation of the family-owned Rosie’s Family Restaurant.

In his free time he was a truck and car enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife Rosalyn Marie “Rosie” Rogers (nee Williams), sons William J. Rogers, Jr. Charles Paul Rogers, Daniel Joseph Rogers and Eric Pinta, along with daughters Merri Beth Rogers, Katherine Rogers, Rebecca Ceja, Nancy Archers, and Teresa Pinta. Jack also leaves thirty-one grandchildren, seventy-seven great grandchildren, sisters Phyllis Baker and Betty Orndorf, and brother Mike Rogers.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Anna L. (nee Moore) Rogers, and brothers Charles and David Rogers.

Funeral Schedule

Friends may call Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel. Reverend Jeffrey Phail, Associate Pastor of Heritage Christian Assembly will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
