Gluvna Shimo Hromada

Albina Rodachy (nee Ganobcsik), 97, of Lorain, died Sunday February 18, 2018 at St. Mary of the Woods in Avon.

She was born July 28, 1920 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident of Lorain.

Albina was a licensed beautician and cosmetologist and had her own salon on Broadway Avenue in Lorain.  One of her customers was Helen Steiner Rice.  Later, Albina worked for Lorain City Schools in the cafeteria at Lowell Elementary School.

She was a lifelong and active member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain where she was a member and past president of the Legion of Mary, member of the Altar & Rosary Society and member of Slovak Catholic Sokols, St. Ann Lodge Branch #114 and First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.  She was a devotee of the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed the rosary several times daily.  She enjoyed reading and cooking.

She is survived by her children: John L. Rodachy of Westlake, Robert Rodachy (Karen) of Amherst, Jule Ann M. Johlgren (Charles) of Arvada, Colorado and Celeste M. Glick (Douglas) of Amherst; grandchildren: Jenn Rodachy, Jeffrey Rodachy, Christopher Perez, Danielle Glick, Damian Glick (Cory) and Dominique Glick and 3 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband John C. Rodachy in 2000, parents Lawrence & Julia Ganobcsik (nee Kubasak), brothers Joseph Ganobcsik, Frank Gann and Lawrence Ganobcsik and sisters:  Sister M. Lawrence SSCM, Anna Kiska, Caroline Zuffa and Pauline Ragan.

Albina’s children would especially like to thank Dr. Erica Roesch and her team at the Cleveland Clinic, the staff at St. Mary of the Woods and the staff at Crossroads Hospice for the excellent care their mother received.

Funeral Schedule

The family will receive friends Monday February 26th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 310 8th St, Lorain.  The mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am with the Rev. Daniel Divis, pastor, the Rev. Leonard Bacik, pastor of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Middleburgh Heights and the Rev. George Vrabel, pastor of St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in North Ridgeville, will concelebrate.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
