Raymond A. Gidich, age 68, of Lorain, passed away at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida on the morning of Saturday June 9, 2018 following a three month illness. Born in Lorain on March 30, 1950, Ray remained a life-long resident of the city.

He was a 1968 graduate of Lorain High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Cleveland State University.

Following his graduation, Ray worked for the Lorain Environment Protective Agency. He eventually left his position with the municipality in 1980 to found Ray Gidich Heating and Air Conditioning.

Ray was heavily involved in a multitude of civic and community service organizations throughout his lifetime. Quickly becoming a friend to everyone he met, Ray displayed a passion for playing softball and also enjoyed racquetball. In addition, he welcomed every opportunity to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Survivors include his wife of forty years Kris (nee Klingshirn), sons Matthew (Virtue) and Mike (Jenni Reichlin) both of Amherst, and daughters Lisa (Eric) Miller of Belmont, North Carolina and Sarah (Stephen) Kennedy of Sylvania. Ray also leaves grandchildren Maddison, Makenzie, Madelyn, Cameron, and Cannon, as well as sister Barbara Gidich of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Mildred (nee Busich) Gidich and his brother Michael.

Funeral Schedule

Visitation will be Monday June 18th from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church - 1305 East Erie Avenue, Lorain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday June 19th  in the church with Reverend Edward Smith, pastor of the parish presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
