Gluvna Shimo Hromada

Paul Tusko, age 95, of Lorain, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Tuesday July 17, 2018. For the last two years, he had been a resident of the Elmcroft Assisted Living facility in Lorain.

Paul was born on May 12 1923, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was the youngest of seven children.  The Tusko family migrated to Lorain in the late 1920’s. Paul graduated from Lorain High School.  Over his lifetime he held numerous occupations; he was a minor league baseball player; an auto mechanic, an automotive parts clerk, an Acme Gridley Setup Operator at Nelson Stud Welding, and finally, an auto assembly technician at Ford Motor Company.

A World War II veteran, Paul fulfilled duty assignments as a Technical Sergeant for the 30th Ordinance Company which was attached to 3rd U.S. Army in Europe.  He participated in four major campaigns including the rescue mission to Bastone and was the recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal

Paul is survived by his son, Donald, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Schedule

Friends may call Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church – 1305 East Erie Avenue, in Lorain. Reverend John C. Retar, Pastor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon where military honors will be conducted by Amvets Post # 32 of Elyria.
