Gluvna Shimo Hromada

Betty Jane Dombroski (nee Angstadt), 94, of Elyria Township, died Wednesday January 8, 2020 at her home.

She was born November 30, 1925 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and had resided in Elyria Township since 1960.

Betty attended Bucknell University where she earned a BS in Biology.  She was registered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Medical Technician after 18 months training at Abington Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania.  She also earned a BS in Education from Kent State University and a Remedial Reading Certificate from Cleveland State University. 

Betty worked for Elyria City Schools as a First Grade Teacher for 24 ½ years until her retirement.  She had also worked as a Medical Technologist specializing in Bacteriology at Abington Hospital in Pennsylvania and at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan for 13 years.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lorain where she served as an elder and financial secretary.  She loved crafts, ceramics, painting, calligraphy, playing bridge and practicing and playing in the Heavenly Chimers. 

She is survived by her daughters: Alendria Jean Nalle (Deryl) of Elyria and Lori Jane Siebenneicher (Wesley) of Hebron, Nebraska; granddaughters: Natasha Nalle and Heather Born (Josh) and great grandchildren: Breahna, Brody and Reagan.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Alexander Anthony Dombroski in 2001, parents Edwin Errol Angstadt and Anna Rose Angstadt (nee Lewis), brother Walter Edwin Angstadt and sister Myra Gertrude Wilson.

Funeral Schedule

The family will receive friends Thursday January 16, 2020 from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain.   Funeral services will be held Friday January 17, 2020 at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel.  The Rev. Wayne DeMarco, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Lorain, will preside.  Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
