John “Johnny” Smolka, 56 of Sheffield Lake, died Friday October 15, 2021 at Mercy Health Lorain after a sudden illness not related to COVID-19. He is now running around with his dog Harvey in Heaven.

He was born January 27, 1965 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Sheffield Lake resident. He attended Brookside High School in 1983.

Johnny worked for his close friend Charles Scoffil at his Home Maintenance & Repair Company. Prior to that he worked for Fairweather Roofing.

Johnny was a Sheffield Lake Legend, known for his tremendous sense of humor, his legendary Facebook posts, and could always make anyone laugh.

He always knew the right things to say. He threw one hell of a clambake, fish fry’s, and Christmas Parties every year. He enjoyed camping with his wife Jean, and his new found love for side by sides.
