Gluvna Shimo Hromada

Sara Kramer (nee Alvarez), age 59, of Lorain, passed away at Mercy New Life Hospice on the evening of Friday July 15, 2022. She was born in Lorain on November 23, 1962 and remained a life-long resident of the city; Sara was a 1982 graduate of Southview High School.

Following graduation, she was employed at Gel-Pak in Lorain and Bonne Bell Cosmetics in Lakewood. She ultimately left both of those positions to take on her most fulfilling career as a full-time mother.

After meeting her husband, she was introduced to the outdoors and soon began to embrace the nuances of hunting and fishing as she accompanied him on trips to West Virginia and southern Ohio. She also loved to travel and enjoyed journeys to Puerto Rico, Las Vegas, Florida and West Virginia. Sara had also just recently returned from a trip to Niagara Falls prior to the rapid decline of her health. She attended Sacred Heart Chapel.

She is survived by her husband of fifteen years Bruce, and children Juan Galvan (Kayla) of Lorain, Wanda Galvan-Rivera (Higinio) of North Ridgeville, Celeste Gonzalez of Lorain, Ryan Kramer of Elyria, and Autumn Kramer of Lorain. Sara also leaves nine grandchildren, sisters Virginia “Gina” Bracero, Marilyn Alvarez, and Angela Bonilla all of Lorain, Miriam Alvarez of St. Petersburg, Florida, and brothers Sergio Alvarez (Darlene) of Elyria and Angel Andujar (Judy) of Lorain.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents Sergio and Beneranda (nee Malave) Alvarez and sister Yolanda Rosario.

Funeral Schedule

Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel; Reverend Mr. Rocky Ortiz, Permanent Deacon at Sacred Heart Chapel will officiate.Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
