Gluvna Shimo Hromada

Anne Pribanic (nee Bentley), 92, of Sheffield Lake, died Friday December 1, 2017 at Independence Village in Avon Lake after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Lorain, attended Nativity Catholic School, Hawthorne School and graduated from Lorain High School with the 1943B class.

Anne was employed at Georgia Huntington’s Specialty Shop in Elyria until the opening of the May Company Department Stores at Sheffield Centre where she worked for 36 years until her retirement in May of 1990.

She enjoyed long drives in the country, baking, cooking, yard work and watching her husband’s creativity with stained glass.

Anne was a member of FOP Lodge # 79 and the local neighborhood watch.  In addition, she was a member of the former St. Vitus Catholic Church in Lorain and St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Sheffield Lake.

She is survived by her nieces: Karen Rodachy of Amherst and Mary Lou England of Pawley’s Island, South Carolina; nephews: Thomas Kurucz of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Donald Sislowski of Altamont, New York, David Sislowski of Windsor, Colorado and Mark Sislowski of Hilliard; many great nieces and nephews and her BFF Lenore Paffumi.  She was preceded in death by her husband Michael W. Pribanic in 2002, parents John & Helen Betlejewski, brother Leo Bentley and sisters Sophie Kurucz and Celia Matusak.
