Rita C. Pustai, (nee Minnick) born February 12, 1925 at home on West 25th Street in Cleveland Ohio, died in hospice care at the home of daughter Kathy (John) Meade in Lorain, OH on the morning of January 20, 2018.

Rita grew up in Elyria and married Joseph Pustai on February 4, 1944.  They settled in a house at the end of a gravel covered dead-end street in Lorain where they raised their family of seven loving children.

Rita worked as an inspector on night shift at Moen Faucet Division of Stanadyne Co. in

Elyria from the early ‘60s until the mid ‘70s. She and her husband Joe retired to Phoenix in 1979 where both were active members of St Jerome Catholic Church.  There she supported children through a grief counseling program while her husband was active in the Knights of Columbus, eventually becoming Grand Knight of the Arizona chapter.  After her husband’s death, Rita moved back to Lorain in 2004, purchasing a home very near the old family homestead. She excelled at embroidery, quilting, painting nature scenes and enjoyed warm and connecting family time with her sisters, children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Joseph J Pustai; her parents,

Frank and Rose Minnick; her younger sister Helen (Minnick) Tassone; her son in

law, Reg Martin; and granddaughters, Kimberly Neri and Brenda (Martin) Adkins.

Survivors include her children Joseph, Jr. (Lisa Hong) of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; Ernest

of Lorain, Linda Martin of Phoenix, Arizona, Kathleen Meade (John) of Lorain;

Frank of Cleveland Heights; Susanne (Pustai) Byrd of Phoenix AZ; and Karl (Carrie)

of Phoenix Arizona. Rita is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson on the way.

Rita’s family is deeply grateful for the invaluable support that Mercy New Life provided to Rita and the family through her last months
