Thomas P. “Tom” Nimon, 53, of Amherst, died Sunday November 4, 2018 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a short illness.



He was born April 7, 1965 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain and Amherst resident.



Tom graduated from Admiral King High School in Lorain in 1983 and attended Lorain County Community College in Elyria studying computer aided design.  He was certified in computer forensics through a program with the US Secret Service.



Tom began his career as a police officer with the Grafton Police Department in 1988 and then served as a deputy with the Lorain County Sheriff Department.  Since 1993, Tom has served on the Lorain City Police Department and was currently a Detective Sergeant and Commander of the Narcotics Unit.



He was a member of FOPA Lodge #3 and the Black River Masonic Lodge.  He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, hiking and spending time with his family and friends.  He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye football fan.



He is survived by his wife of 30 years Dianne Nimon (nee DeAngelis); children: Kyle (Dana) Nimon of Avon Lake and Nicole (Christian) Franco of Lorain; grandson Caden Franco; parents Richard & Penny Nimon (nee Hallgren) of Lorain, sister Michele (Lee) Buss of Lorain and many nieces and nephews.
