Minnie Bennett (nee Cambria), 96, of Lorain, died Monday March 1, 2021 at Independence Village in Avon Lake.

She was born December 15, 1924 in Pennsylvania to Josephine & Frank Cambria and was one of nine children.  Minnie grew up and resided in Lorain most of her life.

She graduated from Lorain High School during World War II and went to work at National Tube as a pit recorder.

Minnie continued her education at Lorain County Community College and earned an Associate Degree in Financing.  This led to a long career at Lorain National Bank where she began in the proof department in 1961, became supervisor of the central proof department in 1966 and eventually Vice President of Operations retiring in 1993.

Minnie was active with Italian-American Veterans Post #1 in Lorain where she was the first elected commander of the IAV Ladies Auxiliary in 1954.  In 1959, she was elected Vice-President of the newly chartered Italian-American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary having served as chairperson of many activities.

Minnie enjoyed traveling with her husband Jerry especially to Hawaii and to a memorable and touching trip to Guam with Jerry’s Marine Corps brothers as they celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Guam.  Family was most important to her as she enjoyed celebrating all events, keeping photo albums commemorating family and extended family members.  For many years, Minnie planned her Lorain High graduation class reunion and kept in contact with many members of her class.  She was a member of St Peter Parish in Lorain where she and Jerry were married April 29, 1943.

She is survived by her husband of 77 years Bruno “Jerry” Bennett; daughter Joanne Molnar (Ernie) of Auburn Hills, Michigan, son Ron Bennett (Tamara) of Wesley Chapel, Florida, grandchildren: Michelle Glenn (Steve) of Florida, Carrie Harvey (Brian) of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Allison Batt (Robert) of North Ridgeville; 6 great grandchildren and sister Mary Campana.  She was preceded in death by her parents Frank & Josephine Cambria (nee Oddi), sister Angeline Cambria and brothers: Santino, Francis, Tony, Joseph “Pepi”, Frankie and George Cambria.
